Useful Information                                                                                                       

Participants will usually be picked up in Keflavik. The first evening we have a welcome dinner. The riding tours start the following day.                                                                                 

 

What is included                                                         

Accommodation and full board are during the tour.  The menu consists of a good breakfast and traditional Icelandic meals. Vegetarian meals can be arranged (please advise when booking).
The riders make their own lunch from the breakfast table.                                                                       

When staying at Oddsstaðir you sleep in bed with linen on.   We have Jacuzzi at home and swimming pool nearby.                                                                                                                               

Rain gear, riding helmet and saddle bags.                                                               

Transfer from Keflavik/Reykjavik and back.         

                                                                                                                                        

What is not included                                                                                                    

Flights turn and return to Iceland is not included.
Fly bus from Keflavik airport to BSÌ bus station.                                                                  

Alcoholic beverages are not included in the tour.              

When lodging is in huts, community centers and guesthouses you need sleeping bag (your own sleeping bag). 

 

What to bring
Warm woolen or fleece sweater, long underwear (protects from

chafing)                                                                    

Warm socks and gloves (two to three pairs), scarf, cap, etc.
Riding boots, waterproof shoes.                                                                                                    

Riding trousers                                                                                                                              

Riding jacket (warm, wind and rainproof)
Sleeping bag (and a small pillow)
A small waist bag (not a backpack!) might be good to use when riding
Fly/mosquitonet, to wear over or under the helmet.
Swimwear, towel, shampoo etc

Earplugs
Band-aids and second skin plasters for chafing                                                                                        

Comfortable clothes for the evening, after riding

 

Riding equipment 

Icelandic horses are not vaccinated and are therefore susceptible to infectious agents from abroad.

Used riding clothes and boots must be washed/disinfected before arrival in Iceland.

 

Cleaning and disinfection:
Used riding clothes and boots is washed in a washing machine or dry cleaned.

Used riding clothes and boots that cannot  be washed can be cleaned with Iodine, VirkonS or some other fluid disinfectant.

Pocket Money                                                                                                             

There's beer for purchase on the tours and sometimes we have woolen sweater and other handcraft on the farm, which is paid in cash in Icelandic currency.  

 

Children                                                                                                                      

We welcome Children, but they should be at least 10 years old and older to join our tours. We will give 20% off for children up to 14 years.


Travel Insurance                                                                                                              

Remember to make sure that you have a travel insurance before your journey. Please note that all riding is at your own risk. Residents of the EU/EEA countries should bring their European Health Insurance Card (E-111 form) in case of illness and need for medical care.

We reserves the right to change and adjust riding routes should weather conditions or other external circumstances make the original route unsafe or even dangerous which are not refundable.
